Funny how we take so much for granted. I saw a little old lady slowly dismount from her sweet ride on buggy thing. I looked at her and wondered. What's her story? If she could tell me, I wonder what her regrets are? What did she dream for her life as a young woman? What is important to her now?
I've always had a deep respect for the elderly. People often write them off, but how awesome they are! They have lived through reccession, depressions, wars. The fact is, we have no idea how rich their life experiences have been and how much they can teach us! Wisdom.
In high school, my friend had this shirt that said: 'To be old and wise, you must first be young and stupid.' It made me chuckle to read it, but it is so not true! To make a wise decision instead of a stupid, potentially life destroying one is wise and sometimes requires taking up courage.
I don't know about you, but I want to LIVE my life. I appreciate that we all can learn from other peoples mistakes, pick up good habits, throw away bad ones. Encourage one another, and love unconditionally! That's our job. To love and to be obedient to God. In the small things that is where it starts.
I challenge you to listen out for what God is saying to you...it might be a tiny little request...do it!
And be nice to older people..they have alot to offer..find out some wisdom from them.
Proverbs 24 verse 3-6:
Through wisdom a house is built,
And by understanding it is established;
By knowledge the rooms are filled
With all precious and pleasant riches.
A wise man is strong,
Yes, a man of knowledge increases strength;
For by wise counsel you will wage your own war,
And in a multitude of counselors there is safety.

Do people who don't like C.T's fall into the catagory of old people? I do like the comfy inner sole idea, I have them in my gumboots...it's all about comfort!
Love your post Kate - I too love older people... they are just the same as us on the inside but with so much more wisdom, experience and funny stories to tell.
Is that why you call me - Poppa Symon? ;-)
Hey go the inner soles, they are good for the inner soul! ;)
Yeah Kristy, my dad is always freaked out when he looks in the mirror..cos he feels like a 20 year old on the inside! It's weird to think we all get old.
Popa Symon, I don't think you are old at all, just quitely! ;)
You know you're getting old when you sink your teeth into a piece of steak and they stay there...
Yes, big ups for the elderly...especially to the two who stand at the church door and give you a hearty handshake EVERY Sunday!
Id recognise the back of those heads any day. Its Nan and Gerald my awesome neighbours once upon a time. They are two old people who definitly rock.
great post - keep them coming :)
